Research interest: My research focuses on consciousness, its neural correlates and its functions: how does it come about, and what – if anything – does it do. As part of this interdisciplinary collaboration, we will focus on volition, and study the possible role consciousness might play in volitional actions. We will further ask if this role changes as a function of decision type, differentiating between arbitrary decisions and deliberate, meaningful ones. To do so, we will use different imaging techniques as well as psychophysical methods.
